Many of the seams are hem-stitched. This is a close-up of the inside of the bottom hem...
Here it is at last, my own version of Edmund Blair Leighton's "Stitching the standards" ... I hope you like it !

I managed to work quite a bit on this project last night. I finished the front buttonings, i sewed the sleeve's hem and facings and i started to work on the sleeve's button holes today. From what it looks like, i think that i might be able to take the sleeve buttoning up to where it's supposed to be and still have room for my tippets. Here are a few pictures of the work in progress...
These are pictures of the sleeves showing the inside-out before cutting in the button holes.
These are close-ups of the bodice. On the left you can see how the gusset and insert are set in. On the right is a close-up of the finished buttons.

One sleeve is done and the other one is only missing the buttons. I'll be making the tippets and the shield's cover for the pictures tomorow. I'll also dye my hair. In the meantime, one the right is a picture that shows how the dress fits. Not bad, although i took about 10 pounds in the past 3 weeks or so ! My arms are as big as a football player's !

I went back to the abandoned tower where i had previously made the Pisan pictures but i wasn't as lucky this time. It turns out that the tower's been sold about 3 months ago and the new owner filed a complaint because some kids vandalised and trashed the place really bad. So, bad luck always being on my side, i came face to face with two police officers and got a 160$ find for tresspassing on a private property. Since i was all dressed up and all, got the photo equipment and a broom to clean-up the place a little, i made a deal with those gentlemen and managed to get a 20 minute delay to be able to take a few pictures anyway ! So here's what i managed to do with very little time...
I also got a few general pics on my way back for you to see the gown a little better. It looks like this will be my last shooting at the tower since the policemen said that they believe the owner will take it down in a near futur. My heart was hacking so bad that i thought i would break down and start to cry in their faces ! Anyway, here's a full view picture with and without the tippets, as they are removable of course...
I still need to make those fitchets. I'm not sure if i'll insert them in a straight or diagonal line. In the meantime, i dyed my hair for the other set of pictures that i'll surely be taking tomorow.
Here's a better view at the banner (who's supposed to be a shield's blanket according to the tragic story of Elaine)...

A few more pics before i'm done....
Close-up of the fitted cut
Pined tippet, wich will later be sewn-on with a running stich out of a big thread so that it can easily be taken off for tournaments.
